Sarah’s Flowers

Sarah’s Flowers

I know good weather helps, but I’m enjoying the buzz around Wisbech. We’ve got, as I constantly tell everyone, plenty of good people doing good things, with so many events and groups to attend there really is something for everyone. It has always been this way – Wisbech is a central place for all the local villages and hamlets, and has developed cultural, as well as market and work provision for everyone. New ideas are developed, and new businesses start up, and succeed, which is fantastic to see.

One new idea is the WisBeach day – an old spelling of the town of course – and which promises to bring the fun of the seaside resort to the Market Place! It’s on the 5th June.
The Wednesday of that week, June 1st , is a celebration day for Sarah’s Flowers, Market Street. With the help of her husband and daughters, Sarah set up on her own only a year ago but has established herself with many satisfied regular customers for her floral arrangements as well as her workshops. The celebration day will include a specially made cake, glasses of fizz, and 10% off all fresh flowers for the day. Pop in anytime between 9 and 4, and put your name down to be in with a chance to win a hand-tied bouquet (worth £30), local delivery included. The winner’s name will be drawn at 3.30pm, good luck!

I’ve only known Sarah a short time, but her enthusiasm for the town and her willingness to support others is wonderful to see. She supports local makers by stocking their work,  providing a choice of gifts for her customers to browse, and she’s a key member of the Penelope Club, with plenty of advice and ideas. We wanted to do something for Rose Fair, and Sarah’s agreed to lead the project, so look out for our contribution!

The Rosmini Centre are also preparing for Rose Fair by having a family event, 10am-1pm, Friday June 3rd, inviting everyone to help with their float for the Saturday parade. There’s a free lunch, and I’ll be there with my Made in the Fens workshop –  traditional, local crafts.

So I’ll see you throughout June – it’s a busy month – especially the first week!
