Happy New Year!
Happy New year to all! I believe we are supposed to be making promises to ourselves at this time of year? While I think it’s worth taking time every now and then, if at all possible, to think about future plans, at this time of year the grey and cold just makes me want to hibernate! I came across a different concept for the new year – rather than committing yourself to hard to reach goals, just find a word that describes what you want to be doing more of and keep thinking back to it throughout the year to keep yourself on track. Mine is going to be “focus”. (Those that know me well are now falling about with laughter… but I have put it here so I can be kept accountable!)
I also want to make sure I do more creative things – which may seem odd when I am always talking about how great creativity is for you – I very much enjoy teaching others, and then rarely do much for myself. So I’ll be looking for new skills to learn, and opportunities to practice them. With a growing band of skilled artists and makers moving to the area as well as home grown talent of course, I think there’s a chance we can all find someone to teach us something new. I’ve been working on new ideas for the Wisbech Art Space and Fenland Artists/Makers, so please do get in touch if you’d like to be on a list for providing creative workshops, or as an attendee; it would be great to be able to show all the workshops in one place.
I’ll continue to encourage more of you to take part in the cultural side of the area too, visiting the hidden gems throughout Fenland, and sharing them with your family and friends – be a tourist in your own town and let everyone know the best places to go. When we all support local places and businesses, that’s fantastic, so adding to that by promoting them to others and encouraging visitors will go that bit further to improving the economic wellbeing of the area.
