Cambridgeshire Voluntary Support
This week, I would like to feature one of the organisations helping those this column seeks to champion, CCVS: Cambridge Council for Voluntary Service. With thanks to Alan Turner.
CCVS is a source of expert help and advice for the third sector – charities and voluntary community groups – by providing them with the information and support they need to be successful.
Providing training, one-to-one consultancy and advice, they are able to guide all groups through regulations, management of their organisation, funding and more. They send out regular newsletters and bulletins, and act as a voice for voluntary groups in our area, contributing to all the major committees and partnerships that meet to determine public policy and action across this region.
There are regular features, through the newsletter and via workshops, on funding, local and national news and events as well as items on new regulations and guidance from the Charity Commission and other regulators on issues affecting the sector.
CCVS also provides a wide range of training, events and networking meetings for community groups. Full details of all the courses and booking information are on the training pages of our website, where you can also sign up to receive our FREE newsletter: www.cambridgecvs.org.uk
Mark Freeman (CEO of CCVS), will give a ‘State of the sector’ presentation and update about CCVS‘ activities followed by a Round Table discussion on May 22nd 10am to 1pm at Wisbech Town Council Chambers. A chance for voluntary groups to talk about what they are doing, their news and concerns.
Alan Melton, Project Animator for the Community-Led Local Development approach (supported by Cambridgeshire ACRE), will give a presentation and lead a discussion about what could be learnt from similar schemes that have been successful in other areas of the UK.
For more information or to book, contact CCVS on 01223 464696 or email:

I look forward to attending as a CCVS member as well as a member of the Local Action Group for the CLLD
